Chocolate Avocado Smoothie Bowl

Chocolate for breakfast? That’s talking my language! This smoothie bowl is a great choice for morning energy. And it’s so pretty! I added a little Greek yogurt for extra protein, but feel free to use protein nut milk if dairy is not your thing.

The good in this? Heart healthy fats from avocado, chia seeds and almonds have been shown to  decrease risk of heart disease and help defend against some cancers.  The strawberries and kiwi are high in Vitamin C which is a nutrient that acts as an antioxidant and protects the immune system.

Chocolate Avocado Smoothie Bowl

1 Avocado

1/2 T cocoa powder

1 T honey

1 banana

1 1/2 c almond milk

1/3 c non-fat Greek yogurt

1 T chia seeds

1-2 T almonds

1 kiwi

3 strawberries, sliced

In a blender, add avocado, cocoa powder, banana, honey, almond milk and Greek yogurt, if desired. Blend until smooth. Divide mixture into two bowls and top each with 1/2 T chia seeds, almonds, and additional fruit.

**Store half of bowl in air tight container for breakfast the next day and top when ready to eat.

    In the recipe for chocolate avocado smoothie, 1.5 c. almond milk is listed as an ingredient but then is not mentioned in the preparation steps. Should the almond milk be omitted? Thanks
